Description
Pterogorgia anceps is found in very shallow water and is very hardy. This variety of gorgonian does not have flat branches like the other sea whips that we sell and is not rounded like the purple plume or rods. It has rough, well-defined edges, that are sometimes triangular or square. They are a very pretty deep purple but can change their color to a golden color depending on the lighting and diet.
We have started to also get frags from colonies in the ocean which means it is possible that you will get a gorgonian on a frag plug. It just depends where I went diving and what was available.
Nano: 2 to 4 inches
Normal: >4 to 8 inches
Large: >8 to 12 inches

I was pleasantly surprised to see a little bonus in my order. A little ribbon came with my order and it’s a dark purple with nicely extending polyps. I’m now considering getting a few more for the tank! #thankskpaquatics

Ordered this sea whip last week and it arrived just as seen in the picture, and very healthy.

This is a really neat purple… Almost a metallic shiny look to it! Teeny tiny polyps came out the first day and are quite spectacular!

Awesome specimen from KP. I ordered the “nano” option and it was the perfect shape for my 10 gallon. Looks like a mini purple cactus! The color is awesome (just like the pic) and its tan polyps started extending within 24 hours. Very cool!

Received one of these beauties. Very deep purple. Brown polyps that came out immediately when put in the tank. Much better looking in person than in the picture!
