Description

Nassarius Vibex, is a small snail that is found off the west coast of Florida in shallow sand beds. They are known to help cleaning up detritus, fish waste, decaying organics etc. which will help maintaining your nitrate levels. Most of the time they will be hidden (Sand bed) but come out as soon as you put some fish food into your tank which they will devour if there are any left overs. While they are hiding in your sand bed, they will also aerate it by stirring it up. They do not eat any algae but they are great addition to any tank with sloppy eaters and problems with nitrates. The nassarius snail is a rather small snail that is often described having a olive shaped shell.

I ordered 15 Nassarius sp. snails, and received a few extra. All of which came through shipping and acclimation just fine. They immediately took to sifting the sandbed in their tank. These snails are excellent detritivores and scavengers. A true staple for reef aquarists. Thank you for your generosity Phillip and Kara!

These guys were fun to watch even before adding them to the tank. They were busy running around the acclimation bucket looking for food. Don’t see much of them now except at feeding time, but then it’s fun to see where they’re going to pop up at. Between meal times I can enjoy the fact that they’re in the sand bed helping to keep things clean. I probably should’ve ordered a few more than what I did though, and I probably will on a future order.
