Product Description

Yellow ricordea are a somewhat uncommon color morph of Ricordea florida that we occasionally offer for sale.  As with all the ricordea polyps, there is a little bit of slight variation with in each color group, but in general these will be primarily yellow with purple edge tentacles and a green mouth.  These are single mouth polyps, and when fully settled into your system they will inflate to about 1.5” or more.

Ricordea polyps are great starter ”corals” and add a nice splash of color to any reef tank.  They come from fairly shallow water and are photosynthetic, so they will thrive in a well-lit aquarium.  The will derive most of their nutrition from the symbiotic algae living in their tissues, but some sort of supplemental micro food will be beneficial to them.  The get along with other color morphs of Ricordea florida, so you can mix and match as you please.

The two species of anemone shrimp from the Caribbean, Periclimenes yucatan and Periclimenes pedersoni, will readily take up residence on these ricordea polyps and provide an interesting show in your tank

As with all the ricordea we sell, these are just loose polyps and are not attached to rocks. They will readily attach to rocks in your tank or you can super glue (gel) or epoxy them to whatever rock you want.

There are very hardy animals and can be shipped safely by priority mail or FedEx two day air.

Please Note:  Any new fish purchased from us or from a local pet store should to be quarantined.  All fish from anywhere in the wild can be possible carriers of bacteria and protozoa that can lead to an infection in your system, so we always recommend that you use some sort of quarantine system prior to adding them to your system.  If you have a fish only system and can medicate the whole system, you may not need a separate quarantine tank.  If you have a reef system that cannot be medicated, a good ultraviolet sterilization system should prevent any kind of disease outbreak.  We medicate our system for bacterial infections and protozoans, but because we don’’t always hold our fish for long periods of time, there is no way to be sure all the protozoan cysts have been killed.  A little bit of prevention will save you lots of trouble down the line.

I received a very healthy great quality bright yellow ricordia from Kara and Philip. Its a true yellow cant mistake it for any other color. Im so happy I wish I ordered all of the ones they had in stock, they are hard to find, at least I never see this color in NY. Most are steel blue or green, you may find an orange if you are lucky in a local store. My favorite ricordia ever!

Awesome rics!!! They are just a “little” more orange than the pics, but not much. They are large and opened up very quickly. Once again, another nice purchase from Ken. Thanks for the extra snails also.
