Both the intermediate and the terminal (supermale) phase of the Yellowhead wrasse are beautiful. The intermediate Yellowhead wrasse is almost rainbow with blues, purples, pinks, yellows, and greens. The supermales have a distinctive bright yellowhead with blue markings behind the eye and a purple, green and black body. These wrasses are normally between 5 and 6 inches, but can get up to 8 inches. They readily eat pellet food, frozen food, or live food and are pretty hardy fish. This makes them good for beginers. However, they can be aggressive towards other fish and invertebrates, so they do best in a reef only aquarium.
