I bought a 10 pound (4.54 kg) pack of Premium rock, send via Southwest Airline cargo to MSP airport. Overall, I’m very happy with the rock. It came with a few hitchhikers (3 brittle stars for sure, along with a tiny crab) that I saw, and I’m sure lots that I didn’t see. The rock was covered with both coralline and macro algae. I am just reaching the end of the diatom stage of the tank cycle, so I can’t say for sure that the fresh live rock has made it better, but overall the diatoms are decreasing rapidly. With shipping, this ended up being $20 a pound, which is more than I expected, but it was a box of rocks covered with water, so I shouldn’t have been surprised.
